One month old Amtrak SDP40Fs 509 and 517 lead the eastbound Texas Chief a few minutes after its 9:50am departure from Houston's Union Station.
After leaving the station, the Lone Star heads north on the Santa Fe.
About 20 minutes after departure, breakfast is being served as the Lone Star begins its journey to Chicago.
